About the Founder
As a founder I have more than 20 years experience and domain expertise in construction, property development, systems integration and project financials, I've spent 3 years working on Buttress because I can see a massive opportunity here to help the construction industry be more productive.

I have built Ballast Point - the leading Architecture and Construction Business in Sydney's Inner West - see www.ballastpoint.com.au and it has gone from strength to strength with a fantastic culture and a diverse team of 20, achieving sustained growth in a very challenging market. The thing you should know about me is I'm not intimidated by anyone and will never back down from anything. I'm committed to seeing Buttress succeed or I will bleed to death trying.

About the market and the product

The construction industry accounts for circa $14T annual turnover and surprisingly the majority is small businesses who have to put up with some very poor solutions. I want to change this and need your help. In Australia alone it's a $200B a year market and more than 50%
​
This industry segment (small business) is a sleeping giant and consistency underserved by existing software suites, hustle bros and get rich quick coaches. It's a segment that is marginalised, forgotten, disrespected and bullied by government bodies looking for soft targets to blame. The industry is crying out for product and it's crying out for leadership. I'm in a mission to lift them up, back them up, empower them and change their lives.

About you
​
The right candidate needs to demonstrate a track record in launching and shipping product but....you need to be ready to back yourself to be able to make a difference, build something exceptional and improve the lives of millions of small builder and trades professionals. You'll need to be quite comfortable thinking thinking big, thinking differently and challenging the status quo with a red-blooded and aggressive challenger product - I've discovered this doesn't suit everyone.
We are at this stage unfunded, but it is my intention to go to launch product in Q2 2025 and be funded in Q3.
Requirements:

Proven product launch or startup track record

Willing to work min 3 months full time equivalent without compensation

Genuine Founder who is happy to stick with business as CTO - not subcontractor, service provider or build for equity and exit arrangement - please don't even ask me about this.

Must be based in or willing to travel to Sydney
